EDGEMOOR, SC :Mrs. Nancy Elizabeth “Beth” Sowell Baker, age 69, died Saturday, October 29, 2016 at her home. She was born January 10, 1947 in Lancaster County, a daughter of the late William Steve “Buddy” Sowell and Marian Hagins Sowell and was the wife of Clyde Richard Baker. Mrs. Baker was employed with Thies Corporation of Rock Hill for 32 years as Chief Financial Officer. She loved to bowl and was a member of USBC group in Rock Hill, enjoyed reading and helping people with their taxes during tax season. She was of the Methodist faith.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband of 39 years, Clyde Richard Baker; two sons, Richard Lamar Baker of Rock Hill and Joseph Michael “Joey” Baker of Lancaster; a daughter, Lisa Baker Vick also of Lancaster; six grandchildren, Garrett, Brannon, Dylan, Jessica, Amber and Laney; a brother, William Steve Sowell III “Billy” and wife Teresa of Lancaster; and a sister, Barbara Alice “Tootie” Sowell of Edgemoor.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Monday evening, October 31, 2016 at Burgess Funeral Home and suggest in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
