Joan Faulkenberry Armstrong

July 28, 1944 -September 30, 2010

 

 

Mrs. Joan Faulkenberry Armstrong, 66, of Lancaster passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010, at her home.  She was born July 28, 1944, in Lancaster, a daughter of Jones Allen Faulkenberry and Evelyn Bailey Faulkenberry.

Mrs. Armstrong was a 1962 graduate of Lancaster High School, a 1967 graduate of Berry College and received her master's degree from the University of West Georgia in 1978.  She was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was a retired State Farm insurance agent.  She was a former member of the Rotary Club of Peachtree City, Ga., and of the First Presbyterian Church of Peachtree City, Ga.

A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Armstrong will be held Sunday, October 3, 2010, at 3 p.m. at St . Luke United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kyle Randle, and the Rev. Dr. Donald Smith officiating.  Burial will be in the St. Luke United Methodist  Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Armstrong is survived by her husband, Anthony Hugh “Tony” Armstrong;  a son, Jason Lee (Melissa) Williams of St. Simon Island;  a stepson, Dr. Anthony H. (Carla) Armstrong Jr. of Jesup, Ga.,  a stepdaughter, Amy Armstrong (Calvin) Mixon of Canton, Ga.; her parents, Jones Allen Faulkenberry and Evelyn Bailey Faulkenberry of Lancaster;  three brothers, Haskell (Sandi) Faulkenberry, Nelson Faulkenberry and Mitchell (Lynda) Faulkenberry, all of Lancaster; a sister, Dixie F. (Bobby) Roberts, of Lancaster;  and five grandchildren,  Ali Grace Williams, Laney Williams, Marleigh Mixon, Caroline Armstrong and Anthony Hugh “Tripp” Armstrong III.

The family will receive friends at the fellowship hall of St. Luke United Methodist Church following the service and other times at the home, 3280 Old Camden Highway, Heath Springs.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church – Building Fund, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC. 29720.
