James Michael "Mike" Barfield

   January 28, 1943  -  January 30, 2006

 

FORT MILL           James Michael “Mike” Barfield, 63, formerly of Lancaster, died Monday, January 30, 2006.

Born January 28, 1943, in York County, he was the son of Julia Crimminger Barfield and the late Elmer Barfield.  He was married to Rita Barfield.

He was retired from Duke Energy and served in the U.S Army Reserves.  He was a member of Philadelphia Methodist Church, Antioch Masonic Lodge No. 399, a Shriner, a member of Charlotte Woodworkers, Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club and a former scoutmaster with First United Methodist Church Scout troop in Lancaster.  He and his wife worked with Lancaster County DSS in providing a foster home for children.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Hope Elizabeth Craig and her husband, Tony, of Fort Mill, two grandchildren; and a brother, Jesse Horton Barfield.

He was preceded in death by a son Michael Dale Barfield.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mahaffey Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ned Borden.  Entombment will be in Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum with Masonic rites.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Today at Mahaffey Funeral Home.
