Marital Status/ Spouse's Name: Recent widow/Dennis Parker; Married Dave Gatti August 30, 2013

Children/Grandchildren:Daughter, Amanda and son-in-law Joel Pierstorff, two rambunctious grandsons

Favorite Memory of High School:My favorite memories include attending football games, going to the prom with my buddy, C.B., exempting my senior exams.  Mrs. McManus, our French teacher, made me wait until the last minute before she told me I had exempted.

Things I Would Like My Classmates to Know (College, military, occupation, etc.): I met my soul mate while I was a senior at USC.  Our marriage lasted 45 wonderful years. He died from cancer March, 2011.  We shared many interests and grew old together. We were fortunate that our health allowed us to stay active.  We managed to complete Dennis’ “bucket list” on travels with our trip to South America, Antarctica and Falkland Islands with Tommy and Harriet Myers in 2009. I enjoyed teaching high school math for almost 40 years.  Most of those years were at Irmo High School where I was department chair.  I taught at USC at night for vacation money.  I never got rich, but I had a very rich life.  I am proud to say I am in a bridge club with our classmates, Sandra Antley Johnson and Patsy White Rivers. I am close friends with another Elgin girl, Jane Fleming Jeffcoat, who lives nearby. I am proud that our “Elgin Eleven” got together before we lost Joan Faulkenberry Armstrong and C.B. Mathis.  We gathered for the first time in April 2009.  We get together every 6 months.  We invited Wayne Henry to our gathering after C.B.’s funeral.  It was then that we started planning our LHS class of 1962 reunion. Hope to see you there.
