Claude “C.B.” Bailey Mathis
October 16, 1944 – May 25, 2011
Claude “C.B.” Bailey Mathis, 66, of 965 Sherwood Circle died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at his home.
He was born October 16, 1944, in Lancaster County, the son of the late Cecil Lawton Mathis and Mildred Bailey Mathis and was the husband of Carolyn Pendergrass Mathis.
Mr. Mathis was the founder of CB's Limited and owner and operator of C.O.R.E. Realty with Tim Martin and was a member of Covenant Baptist Church.
Mr. Mathis is survived by his wife, Carolyn Pendergrass Mathis of the home, a son, Craig Mathis and his wife, April, of Lancaster; a daughter, Crista M. Blackmon and her husband, Roger “Buck” Blackmon Jr., of Lancaster; a brother, Charles Mathis (Shirley); two sisters, Carolyn M. Wright ( Billy), Deborah M. Gamble (Ken), all of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Carson Blackmon, Clay and Hannah Mathis.
The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Mr. Mathis will be 11 a.m. today, May 27, at Covenant Baptist Church by Rev. Dr. Bert Welch. Internment will follow at St. Luke United Methodist Church.
The family of Mr. Mathis will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., today, May 27, in the fellowship hall at Covenant Baptist Church. The family suggest memorials to Covenant Baptist Church, P.O. Box 578, Lancaster, SC 29721.
Hartley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Mathis.

I guess we are all unique, but some more than others! C. B. provided so many memories to Lancaster. I can very honestly state that C B's funeral was the best I have ever attended. If you were there, you know exactly what I mean. He is missed by so many.
