Claude F. “Butch” Jones
August 15, 1944 – May 25, 2010
Claude F. “Butch” Jones, 65, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia. He was born August 15, 1944, in Lancaster County, the son of the late Claude Homer Jones and Helen Steele Jones and was the husband of Bonnie Bailey Jones.
Mr. Jones retired from the N. C. Air National Guard as chief master sergeant after 37 years with four years of active duty. He was an avid hunter, loved to fish, was a Mason and a member of Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Bonnie Bailey Jones of the home, a son, Clay Hall and his wife, Catie, of Watertown, Wis.; a daughter, Carol Wallace and her husband, Tony, of Lancaster; a brother, Philip Jones and his wife, Megan, of Myrtle Beach; Three grandchildren, Felicia Sawyer of Lancaster, Matthew Sawyer and his fiancee' Megan Deese, of Lancaster, Skyler Hall of Rock Hill and two great-grandchildren, Alex Sawyer and Aron Shaffer.
Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Jones Hinson.
The celebration of life memorial service for Mr. Jones will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, at Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church by Dr. Eugene Rollins, with burial to follow in Liberty Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family of Mr. Jones will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and suggest memorial contributions be made to Liberty Hill Presbyterian Church P.O. Box 170, Liberty Hill, SC 29074.
Hartley Funeral Home, Lancaster, is in charge of arrangements for Mr. Jones.
